Care services
Support that builds a life — college, work, friends, the bus route — not just a set of tasks.
Good support helps each person work towards their own goals, maintain important skills and enjoy greater choice. Not just whether the tasks on a list got ticked.
That is the standard we hold ourselves to. We match support workers by considering the person’s preferences, personality, communication, support needs and shared interests, we work at the person’s pace, and we are willing to spend six months on something that looks small and is not.
When it is not the right answer. If someone needs specialist behavioural support or physical intervention, we will carefully assess whether we have the appropriately trained staff and resources to support them safely.
What is included
The care plan is written with you, so this is a starting point rather than a fixed list.
We match support workers by considering the person’s preferences, personality, communication, support needs and shared interests. You will be involved in choosing and meeting your support workers. If the match does not feel right, we will listen and review it.
Cooking, budgeting, travel training, using the bus, managing appointments — at whatever pace it takes.
Getting there, staying there, and the support around it that makes it stick.
Clubs, sport, gigs, the pub, friends. We provide the right level of support while encouraging choice, confidence and independence.
Working with whatever someone uses — speech, Makaton, PECS, a device — and expecting to be understood in return.
Understanding what a behaviour is communicating, and changing the environment rather than the person.
